How to Play

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Purchase Your Ticket: Visit any authorized Tennessee Lottery retailer (over 5,000 locations statewide including convenience stores, gas stations, and grocery stores). Online purchases are not available for Cash 3.

2. Choose Your Play Type: Select one of four play types (detailed below):

   • Exact Order (Straight): Numbers must match in exact order
   • Any Order (Box): Numbers can match in any order
   • Exact or Any Order (Straight/Box): Combination play covering both exact and any order
   • Combo: Covers all possible exact order combinations of your numbers

3. Number Selection: Choose a three-digit number (000-999) using one of these methods:

   • Manual Selection: Use a playslip and mark your three digits (one in each column: A, B, C) in any of the five play areas (A through E)
   • Quick Pick (QP): Mark the QP box on your playslip and let the computer randomly generate your three digits
   • Tell the Cashier: Simply tell the cashier your three chosen digits and play type

4. Choose Your Wager Amount: Select how much to wager per play:

   • $0.50 per play
   • $1.00 per play
   • Note: Some play types have specific wager requirements

5. Add Wild Ball (Optional): Add the Wild Ball feature for double the base cost. Wild Ball creates additional winning combinations by allowing the Wild Ball digit to substitute for one of the three drawn digits.

6. Multi-Draw/Advance Play: Play your numbers for up to 7 consecutive drawing days on the same ticket. Mark the Advance Play box on your playslip or tell the cashier how many days you want.

7. Select Drawing Time(s): Choose which drawing(s) you want to enter:

   • Morning: Monday-Saturday at 10:08 AM CT (no Sunday morning draw)
   • Midday: Monday-Saturday at 1:08 PM CT (no Sunday midday draw)
   • Evening: Every day (Monday-Sunday) at 7:08 PM CT
   • You can play one, two, or all three daily drawings

8. Pay for Your Ticket: Base cost depends on wager, play type, Wild Ball option, and number of drawings.

9. Check Your Ticket: Verify all numbers, play type, wager amount, Wild Ball selection, drawing times, and dates are correct before leaving the retailer.

Play Types and Prize Structure

Cash 3 offers four different play types, each with different matching requirements and prize amounts. Prizes scale based on your wager amount ($0.50 or $1.00).

1. EXACT ORDER (Straight)

How to Win: Your three digits must match the winning numbers in exact order.

Example: You pick 1-2-3. You win only if the draw is exactly 1-2-3.

Prizes:

• $0.50 wager: $250
• $1.00 wager: $500

Odds: 1 in 1,000

2. ANY ORDER (Box)

How to Win: Your three digits can match the winning numbers in any order. Prize amounts vary based on whether your selected digits are all unique or have pairs.

Box 3-Way (one pair, like 1-1-2 or 5-5-7):

• $0.50 wager: $80
• $1.00 wager: $160
• Odds: 1 in 333
• Example: You pick 1-1-2. You win if draw is 1-1-2, 1-2-1, or 2-1-1.

Box 6-Way (all three digits unique, like 1-2-3):

• $0.50 wager: $40
• $1.00 wager: $80
• Odds: 1 in 167
• Example: You pick 1-2-3. You win if draw is 1-2-3, 1-3-2, 2-1-3, 2-3-1, 3-1-2, or 3-2-1.

3. EXACT OR ANY ORDER (Straight/Box)

How to Win: This combines Exact Order and Any Order on a single $1.00 play (split as $0.50 Exact + $0.50 Any). Win the higher prize if numbers match exactly, or the lower prize if they match in any order.

Straight/Box 3-Way (one pair):

• $1.00 wager required (cannot play for $0.50)
• Exact match: $330
• Any order match: $80
• Odds: 1 in 1,000 (exact) or 1 in 333 (any order)
• Example: Pick 1-1-2. Win $330 if draw is 1-1-2 exactly, or $80 if draw is 1-2-1 or 2-1-1.

Straight/Box 6-Way (all unique digits):

• $1.00 wager required (cannot play for $0.50)
• Exact match: $290
• Any order match: $40
• Odds: 1 in 1,000 (exact) or 1 in 167 (any order)
• Example: Pick 1-2-3. Win $290 if draw is 1-2-3 exactly, or $40 if draw is any other arrangement.

4. COMBO

How to Win: Covers all possible Exact Order combinations of your three digits. Automatically plays multiple straight bets.

Combo 3-Way (one pair, like 1-1-2):

• Costs $3 (plays 3 straight combinations: 1-1-2, 1-2-1, 2-1-1)
• Prize: $500 per $1 wager portion (you win $500 for the matching combination)
• Odds: 1 in 333

Combo 6-Way (all unique digits, like 1-2-3):

• Costs $6 (plays 6 straight combinations: 1-2-3, 1-3-2, 2-1-3, 2-3-1, 3-1-2, 3-2-1)
• Prize: $500 per $1 wager portion (you win $500 for the matching combination)
• Odds: 1 in 167

Combo Notes:

• Combo guarantees you win if your three digits are drawn (regardless of order)
• You pay more upfront but always win the Exact Order prize amount
• Cannot be played for $0.50 wager

Wild Ball Add-On Feature

Wild Ball creates additional winning combinations by allowing the Wild Ball digit to substitute for one of the three drawn digits.

How Wild Ball Works:

• Add Wild Ball to any Cash 3 play for double the base cost
• After every Cash 3 drawing (Morning, Midday, and Evening), a one-digit Wild Ball number (0-9) is drawn
• The Wild Ball can replace any one of the three winning Cash 3 digits to create an additional winning combination
• If your numbers match using the Wild Ball substitution, you win a Wild Ball prize in addition to any base game prize
• Wild Ball prizes are separate from base game prizes - you can win both on the same ticket

Wild Ball Prize Examples (based on $1.00 base wager, making total cost $2.00 with Wild Ball):

• Exact Order with Wild Ball: If you match exactly using Wild Ball substitution, win an additional $180
  • Total if you match both base and Wild Ball: $500 (base Exact) + $180 (Wild Ball Exact) = $680
• Any Order with Wild Ball: If you match in any order using Wild Ball substitution, win an additional prize (amount varies by 3-way or 6-way)

Wild Ball Cost:

• $0.50 base wager becomes $1.00 total ($0.50 base + $0.50 Wild Ball)
• $1.00 base wager becomes $2.00 total ($1.00 base + $1.00 Wild Ball)

Wild Ball Example:

• You pick: 1-2-3 (Exact Order, $1 wager with Wild Ball = $2 total)
• Draw: 1-2-5 with Wild Ball 3
• Result: Base game = no win. Wild Ball substitution = 1-2-3 (replaces the 5 with Wild Ball 3) = Win $180
• If draw was 1-2-3 with Wild Ball 5: Win $500 (base Exact match) + $180 (Wild Ball creates 1-2-5 match) = $680 total

Ticket Pricing Examples

• Basic Play: $0.50 or $1.00 for one drawing
• With Wild Ball: Double the base wager ($0.50 becomes $1; $1 becomes $2)
• Multiple Drawings Per Day: Multiply by 2 (Morning + Midday), or 3 (Morning + Midday + Evening)
  • Example: $1 wager × 3 daily drawings = $3 per day
• Multi-Day Advance Play: Multiply daily cost by number of days (up to 7)
  • Example: $1 wager × 3 drawings per day × 7 days = $21 total
• Combo Plays: 3-Way Combo = $3; 6-Way Combo = $6 (per drawing)

Overall Odds

• Exact Order: 1 in 1,000
• Box 3-Way: 1 in 333
• Box 6-Way: 1 in 167
• Combo: 1 in 333 (3-Way) or 1 in 167 (6-Way) - guaranteed to win if your digits appear

Prize Claiming

• Prizes $1-$599: Redeem at any Tennessee Lottery retailer
• Prizes $600+: Must be claimed at Tennessee Lottery headquarters (20 Metro Center Blvd, Nashville, TN 37210) or one of four regional offices (Chattanooga, Jackson, Knoxville, Memphis), or by mail with completed Winner's Claim Form
• Claim Deadline: All prizes must be claimed within 180 days (approximately 6 months) of the drawing date
• Tax Requirements: Prizes of $600 or more require IRS Form W-2G completion for tax reporting
