How to Play

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Purchase Your Ticket: Visit any authorized South Dakota Lottery retailer. 2by2 is also available in Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Wyoming with the same rules and prize structure.

2. Number Selection: Choose your numbers in two separate color fields:

   • Red Numbers: Select two numbers from 1 to 26 in the Red play area
   • White Numbers: Select two numbers from 1 to 26 in the White play area
   • Total: You'll be selecting 4 numbers (2 red + 2 white)

3. Selection Methods:

   • Manual Selection: Use a playslip and mark two numbers in the Red section and two numbers in the White section
   • Quick Pick: Request Quick Pick or mark the QP box on your playslip to have the terminal randomly generate all four numbers (2 red + 2 white)
   • Tell the Cashier: Tell the cashier your chosen numbers (specify which are red and which are white)

4. Multiple Plays: Each playslip typically contains multiple panels (usually 5). You can play up to 5 different number combinations on a single playslip, with each play costing $1.

5. Multi-Draw Option: Play the same numbers for up to 7 consecutive drawings (one week) on a single ticket. You can also purchase multi-draw tickets for special promotions.

6. Tuesday Double Option: When purchasing a multi-draw ticket for 7 consecutive drawings, you automatically qualify for "Tuesday Double" - all prizes won on Tuesday drawings are doubled in value at no extra cost.

7. Pay for Your Ticket: Each play costs $1. Multi-draw costs = $1 × number of drawings.

8. Check Your Ticket: Verify all numbers (red and white), drawing dates, and ticket information are correct before leaving. Tickets cannot be canceled once printed.

9. Wait for Drawing: Drawings occur every night at approximately 9:00 PM CST (time may vary slightly by state - in South Dakota, the drawing time aligns with 9:00 PM Central Time).

Prize Structure

2by2 offers four prize tiers based on matching red and white numbers. You must match numbers in the correct color field (red matches must be red, white matches must be white).

Overall Odds: Approximately 1 in 11 of winning any prize or free ticket.

Important Prize Notes:

• You must match numbers in the correct color to win
• Example: If you pick Red 5-12 and White 8-20, and the draw is Red 5-12 and White 8-20, you win $22,000
• Numbers are color-specific - a red number draw does not match a white number pick
• Only one prize per play per drawing
• Free ticket prizes are automatically generated as Quick Pick tickets

Tuesday Double Promotion

How Tuesday Double Works:

• Available when you purchase a 7-draw multi-draw ticket
• Automatically included at no additional cost
• On Tuesday drawings only, all cash prizes are doubled:
  • Match 4 (2 Red + 2 White): Win $44,000 instead of $22,000
  • Match 3 (2 Red + 1 White): Win $200 instead of $100
  • Match 2 (2+0 or 1+2): Win $6 instead of $3
  • Free tickets are not doubled
• Applies only to Tuesday drawing results during your multi-draw period
• No Tuesday Double benefit for single-draw or non-7-draw multi-draw tickets

Tuesday Double Example:

• Purchase a 7-draw ticket on Saturday for $7
• Your ticket is valid for drawings Saturday through Friday (includes one Tuesday)
• On Tuesday, if you match 2 Red + 2 White, you win $44,000 (doubled from $22,000)
• On other days, prizes are standard amounts

Color Matching Rules

Understanding the color-specific matching is crucial for 2by2:

Correct Color Matching Examples:

• You pick: Red 5-10, White 15-20

• Draw: Red 5-10, White 15-20

• Result: Match all 4 (2 Red + 2 White) = Win $22,000

• You pick: Red 5-10, White 15-20

• Draw: Red 5-10, White 15-22

• Result: Match 3 (2 Red + 1 White) = Win $100

Incorrect Understanding:

• You pick: Red 5-10, White 15-20
• Draw: Red 15-20, White 5-10
• Result: No match - even though all four numbers were drawn, they were in the wrong colors for your pick

Multi-State Participation

2by2 is a multi-state game offered in five states:

• Kansas: Kansas Lottery
• Nebraska: Nebraska Lottery
• North Dakota: North Dakota Lottery
• South Dakota: South Dakota Lottery (18+ to play)
• Wyoming: Wyoming Lottery

Multi-State Benefits:

• Claim Deadline: 180 days from drawing date (South Dakota). After 180 days, prizes are forfeited.

Drawing Process

• Daily drawings at approximately 9:00 PM Central Time
• Four numbers are drawn: 2 from the red ball set (1-26) and 2 from the white ball set (1-26)
