How to Play

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Purchase Your Ticket: Visit any authorized Rhode Island Lottery retailer or use the Rhode Island Lottery app.

2. Choose Your Game Type: Select one of three game types:

   • 4 Digit: Choose four digits (0-9) for all four positions (columns A, B, C, D)
   • 3 Digit: Choose three digits for the first three positions only (columns A, B, C)
   • Back 3: Choose three digits for the last three positions only (columns B, C, D)

3. Number Selection: Choose your digits (0-9 for each position) using one of these methods:

   • Manual Selection: Use a selection slip and mark your chosen digits in each column
   • Quick Pick (QP): Mark the QP box and let the computer randomly generate your digits
   • Tell the Cashier: Simply tell the cashier your chosen numbers and preferences

4. Choose Your Bet Type: Select one of three bet types (detailed below):

   • Straight: Numbers must match in exact order
   • Box: Numbers can match in any order
   • Combo: Combination of Straight and Box (covers both ways to win)

5. Select Your Wager Amount: Choose how much to wager per game:

   • $0.50 per play
   • $1.00 per play
   • $2.00 per play
   • $5.00 per play

6. Choose Draw Time(s): Select which drawing(s) you want to enter:

   • Midday drawing only (1:30 PM ET)
   • Evening drawing only (7:29 PM ET)
   • Both drawings (costs double - applies wager to each drawing)

7. Add Instant Match (Optional): For an additional $1 per wager, add the Instant Match feature to win up to $500 instantly. When added, your ticket will print Instant Match numbers that you can check immediately for instant wins.

8. Multi-Draw Option: Play your numbers for up to 7 consecutive days of drawings (14 total drawings if playing both Midday and Evening), or choose 30-day consecutive draws. Tell the cashier or mark the Multi-Draw section on your playslip.

9. Pay for Your Ticket: Base cost is your wager amount ($0.50-$5) multiplied by number of drawings, plus Instant Match cost if selected.

10. Check Your Ticket: Verify all numbers, bet type, wager amount, draw times, and drawing dates are correct before leaving the retailer.

Play Types and Prize Structure

The Numbers offers three different bet types, each with different matching requirements and prize amounts. Prizes scale proportionally with your wager amount.

1. STRAIGHT

How to Win: Your digits must match the winning numbers in exact order.

Example: You pick 1-2-3-4. You win only if the draw is exactly 1-2-3-4.

Prizes (4 Digit):

• $0.50 wager: $2,500
• $1.00 wager: $5,000
• $2.00 wager: $10,000
• $5.00 wager: $25,000

Prizes (3 Digit):

• $0.50 wager: $250
• $1.00 wager: $500
• $2.00 wager: $1,000
• $5.00 wager: $2,500

Prizes (Back 3):

• $0.50 wager: $250
• $1.00 wager: $500
• $2.00 wager: $1,000
• $5.00 wager: $2,500

Odds (4 Digit): 1 in 10,000 Odds (3 Digit or Back 3): 1 in 1,000

2. BOX

How to Win: Your digits can match the winning numbers in any order. Prize amounts vary based on whether your selected digits are all unique, have pairs, or have triples.

4 Digit Box Prize Structure:

Box 4-Way (two pairs, like 1-1-2-2 or 3-3-7-7):

• $0.50 wager: $600
• $1.00 wager: $1,200
• $2.00 wager: $2,400
• $5.00 wager: $6,000
• Odds: 1 in 2,500

Box 6-Way (one pair and two unique digits, like 1-1-2-3 or 5-5-7-9):

• $0.50 wager: $400
• $1.00 wager: $800
• $2.00 wager: $1,600
• $5.00 wager: $4,000
• Odds: 1 in 1,667

Box 12-Way (one triple and one unique digit, like 1-1-1-2 or 7-7-7-3):

• $0.50 wager: $200
• $1.00 wager: $400
• $2.00 wager: $800
• $5.00 wager: $2,000
• Odds: 1 in 833

Box 24-Way (all four digits unique, like 1-2-3-4):

• $0.50 wager: $100

3 Digit Box Prize Structure:

Box 3-Way (one pair, like 1-1-2 or 5-5-7):

Box 6-Way (all three digits unique, like 1-2-3):

• $0.50 wager: $40

3. COMBO (Straight/Box Combined)

How to Win: This combines both Straight and Box bets on a single ticket. If your numbers match in exact order, you win both the Straight prize and the Box prize. If they match in any other order, you win only the Box prize.

Example: You pick 1-2-3-4 on a 4 Digit Combo play with a $1 wager. If the draw is exactly 1-2-3-4, you win $5,000 (Straight) + $200 (Box 24-Way) = $5,200 total. If the draw is 2-1-3-4, you win only the Box prize of $200.

Combo Cost: Your wager is automatically split:

• For $1 Combo: $0.50 goes to Straight bet, $0.50 goes to Box bet
• For $2 Combo: $1 goes to Straight bet, $1 goes to Box bet

Combo Prizes: You receive the sum of applicable Straight and/or Box prizes based on how the numbers match

Instant Match Add-On Feature

Instant Match gives you a chance to win up to $500 instantly when you purchase your ticket.

How Instant Match Works:

• Add Instant Match to your ticket for an additional $1 per wager (per drawing)
• Your ticket will print a set of Instant Match numbers with prize amounts next to them
• If any of your Numbers game digits match any of the Instant Match numbers, you instantly win the prize amount shown
• Instant Match winners are determined at the time of purchase, not at drawing time
• You can win immediately without waiting for the drawing
• Some tickets also feature a Bonus "$" symbol for additional prizes

Instant Match Prize Structure:

• Maximum Prize: $500
• Prize amounts vary per ticket
• Overall odds of winning any Instant Match prize vary

Instant Match Cost:

• $1 per base wager per drawing
• Example: $1 wager on Both (Midday + Evening) drawings = $2 base + $2 Instant Match = $4 total

Ticket Pricing Examples

• Basic Play: $0.50 or $1 for one drawing (Midday or Evening)
• Both Drawings: $1 or $2 (double the base wager for two drawings per day)
• With Instant Match: Add $1 per wager per drawing
  • $1 Midday + Instant Match = $2 total
  • $1 Both drawings + Instant Match = $4 total ($1×2 drawings + $1×2 Instant Match)
• Multi-Draw: Multiply daily cost by number of days
  • $1 per day × 7 days = $7 for one week
  • $1 Both drawings per day × 7 days = $14 for one week of both drawings

Prize Claiming

• Prizes $1-$599: Redeem at any Rhode Island Lottery retailer
• Prizes $600+: Must be claimed at Rhode Island Lottery headquarters at 1425 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston, RI 02920, or by mail with a completed Winner's Claim Form
• Instant Match Prizes: All Instant Match prizes under $600 can be claimed immediately at any retailer
• Claim Deadline: All prizes must be claimed within 365 days (1 year) of the drawing date
