How to Play

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Visit a Keno Location: Rhode Island Keno is available at authorized Keno retailers throughout the state, including many restaurants, bars, and social clubs. Look for locations displaying the Rhode Island Lottery Keno sign. Keno results are displayed on monitors at these locations.

2. Get a Keno Playslip: Pick up a Keno playslip at the Keno retailer or tell the cashier your selections.

3. Choose Your Spots: Decide how many numbers (spots) you want to play, from 1 to 10 spots. The number of spots you select determines your potential prizes and odds.

4. Select Your Numbers: Mark your chosen numbers from 1 to 80 on the playslip. The quantity of numbers you mark must equal the number of spots you selected. Alternatively, request Quick Pick to have numbers randomly generated.

5. Choose Your Wager Amount: Select how much you want to wager per game:

   • $1 per game
   • $2 per game
   • $5 per game
   • $10 per game

6. Add Keno Plus (Optional): Mark "Keno Plus" as "Yes" to multiply your winnings by up to 10 times. Keno Plus doubles the cost of your play (e.g., a $1 play becomes $2 total). A random multiplier (2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, or 10x) is drawn each game.

7. Add Keno Overtime (Optional): Mark "Keno Overtime" to enter an additional draw that occurs after the main Keno draw. In Overtime, the 60 numbers NOT drawn in the main game are progressively eliminated until 10 remain. Keno Overtime doubles the cost of your play (e.g., a $1 play becomes $2 total).

8. Select Number of Games: Choose how many consecutive games you want to play with the same numbers:

   • 1 game (single drawing)
   • 2 games
   • 5 games
   • 10 games
   • 15 games

9. Calculate Total Cost: Your total ticket cost = (base wager) × (number of games) × (multiplier for add-ons)

   • Example: $2 wager × 5 games = $10
   • Example with Plus: $2 wager × 5 games × 2 (Plus doubles cost) = $20
   • Example with Plus AND Overtime: $2 wager × 5 games × 2 (Plus) × 2 (Overtime) = $40

10. Submit Your Playslip: Hand your completed playslip to the cashier with payment, or tell the cashier your selections.

11. Receive Your Ticket: Check your ticket for accuracy - verify numbers, spots, wager amount, number of games, and add-on selections.

12. Watch the Monitor: Keno drawings occur every 4 minutes and are displayed on monitors at the Keno location. Twenty winning numbers (from 1-80) are drawn each game.

Regular Keno Prize Structure

Keno prizes depend on three factors: (1) how many spots you play, (2) how many of your numbers match the 20 drawn numbers, and (3) your wager amount. Below are the prize structures for each spot level based on a $1 wager. Multiply prizes by your wager ($2, $5, or $10) accordingly.

Keno Plus Add-On Feature

Keno Plus multiplies your base Keno prizes by a randomly drawn multiplier.

How Keno Plus Works:

• Add Keno Plus to any Keno ticket for double the base cost
• After each 20-number Keno draw, a random multiplier is drawn: 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, or 10x
• Your base Keno prizes are multiplied by the drawn multiplier
• Maximum Keno Plus prize: $1,000,000
• Keno Plus does not apply to Keno Overtime prizes

Keno Plus Multiplier Probabilities:

• 10x multiplier: Least common (highest prize potential)
• 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x multipliers: More common

Keno Plus Cost:

• $1 base wager becomes $2 total ($1 base + $1 Plus)
• $2 base wager becomes $4 total
• $5 base wager becomes $10 total

Keno Plus Prize Examples:

• Base prize $100 × 10x multiplier = $1,000
• Base prize $5,000 (Match 7 of 7 on $1 wager) × 10x = $50,000
• Base prize $100,000 (Match 10 of 10 on $1 wager) × 10x = $1,000,000 (maximum)

Keno Overtime Add-On Feature

Keno Overtime is a second-chance draw that occurs immediately after the regular 20-number Keno draw.

How Keno Overtime Works:

• Add Keno Overtime to any Keno ticket for double the base cost
• After the main Keno drawing, the 60 numbers that were NOT drawn are entered into the Overtime pool
• The Overtime draw progressively eliminates numbers from this pool until only 10 numbers remain
• If your selected numbers are among the final 10 remaining Overtime numbers, you win Overtime prizes
• Overtime prizes are separate from and in addition to regular Keno prizes
• You can win both regular Keno and Overtime prizes in the same game

Keno Overtime Cost:

• $1 base wager becomes $2 total ($1 base + $1 Overtime)
• $2 base wager becomes $4 total
• $5 base wager becomes $10 total
• $10 base wager becomes $20 total

Keno Overtime Prize Structure (prizes vary by spots played - similar structure to regular Keno but with different prize amounts):

• Maximum Keno Overtime prize: $500,000
• Prizes are determined by how many of your numbers are among the final 10 Overtime numbers
• Exact Overtime prize tables are displayed at Keno locations

Keno Plus + Overtime Combined:

• You can add BOTH Keno Plus and Keno Overtime to the same ticket
• Cost = base wager × 4 (doubles twice: once for Plus, once for Overtime)
• Example: $1 base becomes $4 total; $2 base becomes $8 total
• You can win regular Keno prizes (multiplied by Plus), plus separate Overtime prizes

Overall Odds

Overall odds of winning vary significantly based on the number of spots played (ranging from 1 in 4 for 1 Spot to approximately 1 in 4 for 7 Spots, and vary for other spot levels as shown in the prize tables above).

Prize Claiming

• Prizes $1-$599: Redeem at any Rhode Island Keno location or Rhode Island Lottery retailer
• Prizes $600+: Must be claimed at Rhode Island Lottery headquarters at 1425 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston, RI 02920, or by mail with a completed Winner's Claim Form
