How to Play

Number Selection: Choose three numbers, each from 0 through 9. You can select your own numbers or request an Easy Pick for random selection.

Wager Amount: Select your wager amount: $0.50 (available for Straight, Box, Front Pair, and Back Pair only), $1.00, $2.00, $3.00, $4.00, or $5.00. All prizes scale proportionally with your wager - the prize amount is multiplied by your wager amount. Prize examples shown below are based on a $1 wager.

Play Types:

1. Straight Play - Match all three numbers in EXACT order as drawn

   • $0.50 wager wins $300
   • $1.00 wager wins $600
   • $5.00 wager wins $3,000
   • Odds: 1 in 1,000
   • This play type offers the highest payout, as you must match all three digits in the exact order they are drawn

2. Box Play - Match all three numbers in ANY order Box plays are classified by whether you have repeated numbers:

   • 3-Way Box (two numbers the same, e.g., 112):

     • $0.50 wager wins $80
     • $1.00 wager wins $160
     • Odds: 1 in 333
     • Three possible winning combinations

   • 6-Way Box (all three numbers different, e.g., 123):

     • $0.50 wager wins $40
     • $1.00 wager wins $80
     • Odds: 1 in 167
     • Six possible winning combinations

3. Straight/Box Combination - Win by matching in EXACT order and/or ANY order

   • This play type combines a Straight and Box wager
   • If your numbers match in exact order, you win both the Straight and Box prizes
   • If your numbers match in any order but not exact order, you win only the Box prize
   • Requires at least $1 total wager (split between Straight and Box portions)
   • Example on $1 total wager:
     • 3-Way: Win $330 if exact match, or $80 if any-order match only
     • 6-Way: Win $290 if exact match, or $40 if any-order match only

4. Front Pair - Match the first two numbers in exact order (third number can be anything)

   • $0.50 wager wins $25
   • $1.00 wager wins $50
   • Odds: 1 in 100
   • Only the first two digits need to match in exact order; the third digit is ignored

5. Back Pair - Match the last two numbers in exact order (first number can be anything)

   • $0.50 wager wins $25
   • $1.00 wager wins $50
   • Odds: 1 in 100
   • Only the last two digits need to match in exact order; the first digit is ignored

Choosing Your Play Type: When filling out your playslip, mark which play type you want: Straight, Box, Straight/Box, Front Pair, or Back Pair. You can also play multiple play types on the same ticket by filling out multiple game panels.

Multi-Draw: Check the Multi-Draw box to purchase tickets for up to 16 consecutive drawings at a time. This is convenient if you want to play the same numbers over multiple days. You can choose to play just Midday drawings, just Evening drawings, or both.

Drawing Selection: Choose whether to play the Midday drawing, Evening drawing, or both. Mark your selection on the playslip. Playing both drawings requires purchasing both separately.

Easy Pick: Request an Easy Pick to have the lottery terminal randomly select your three numbers. This is the quickest way to play if you don't have specific numbers in mind.

How to Win: After the drawing, check if your numbers match the winning numbers according to your chosen play type. Straight requires exact order match, Box requires any order match, Pairs require two-digit matches in specific positions.

Overall Odds: Overall odds vary by play type selected. The best odds are for Pair plays at 1 in 100, offering a good balance between odds and payout. Straight play has the longest odds at 1 in 1,000 but offers the highest prize. Box plays have intermediate odds and prizes.

Claiming Prizes: Pick 3 prizes must be claimed within 90 days of the drawing in which they were won. Prizes under $600 can be claimed at any Iowa Lottery retailer. Larger prizes must be claimed at Iowa Lottery headquarters or regional offices.
